reverse glass painting of a sugar skull

This Day of the Dead craft will add so much life and color to your ofrenda. It’s reverse glass painting! It’s great for all skill levels of painters and crafters. I even have a template you can use to get started! And…a video!

SUPPLIES for reverse glass painting:

Frame with glass (this will also work with transparencies, Plexiglas, clear plastic)

Drawing

Liner Brush

Craft paints

Paper backing

DIRECTIONS:

Draw your design to your liking, then flip it over and trace with a pen. Set the glass on top and use a liner brush and black craft paint to draw over the outlines. Add any brushstrokes for shading. Add background color. Let dry. Paint white over the skull area and whatever other colors you want as the background.

You can leave open spaces and add a cool sheet of background paper. I used a page from an old Spanish language textbook I found at Goodwill!

IDEA: For text, you can use your favorite font and print it out to use!

A template you can use for your project! Not for commercial use.
