Easy Papel Picado Stencils

This is Patrick’s workshop for the 5th Annual Crafty Chica Cruise! Sponsored by Fiskars!

You draw a design on cardstock, and then use a cutting mat, and a craft knife to cut out the design. It’
s tricky because you  have to be aware of the negative and positive. You cut away the white space to leave the black.

After you cut your stencil, you can use it on any hard surface, or use it as a stencil to cut through tissue or art paper to make actual papel picado.

Here is my attempt. I did it opposite of Patrick, I left the white space and cut the black. But I still like how it turned out!
