Last week, my somewhat conservative daughter, Maya, decided to do something different with her hair. She didn’t know what she wanted, she just wanted something “different”. That leaves a lot of room for interpretation.
She asked to tag along to my hair appointment to carry out her decision. However, it was my appointment that was the NIGHT before I was to leave to Miami on a big business trip. My mind was fried, so when she asked for my advice on what to do with her tresses, I was like “GO BOLD! GO BLONDE!!!”
Where that came from, I have no idea.
And well, she actually, for once, took my advice. Go figure. Sigh. Tears on both ends. Here’s how it went down. I don’t even need to explain, the pictures say it all. Chronological order within 24 hours.
Note: Many of her friends loved it and tried to talk her into keeping it. We all thought it came out cool, but it just wasn’t Maya’s style at this moment in time. What an adventure! I was so stressed driving home from the appointment that I actually got lost and had to use my GPS on my iPhone! Lordy, I had me a mommy meltdown. Poor Maya!
I doubt she’ll ever ask me for fashion advice again!
Aww, that is a sweet story. You tried, and that will be a funny memory later in her life 😀
I think her hair in the final picture looks really cute! What if she dyed the blonde strands purple or blue? Oh, wait, you said she was conservative…never mind! 🙂
Well, it’s not a real life when you’re a woman unless you make a few really awful mistakes with your hair!! LOL!! Have to experiment a little..and sometimes it just does not fly!! I liked the blue stripe awhile back. I do like the final picture, with some highlights in her pretty dark hair. All blonde?I’m not seein’ it either. But you gotta “play” and experiment some in life or.. you don’t really LIVE! Right????
OMG! That’s such a great story. I laughed so hard. Sorry Maya, not at you. But it really could be a story line on Modern Family. Thanks to both of you for sharing and having a great sense of humor. And it really did turn out cute in the end! The hair and the story.
