Crafty Chica,
I have to tell you that you are the most creative and dynamic person. I used to read your column when I lived in Tempe -- now I'm in the Florida Panhandle so THANK YOU for your website! It, and you, are simply fantastic! I have a question for you. I saw your Dia de los Muertos lights on your store site, and it has inspired me to paint the boring old round white lights my husband puts on our Christmas tree every year. They are even sugared too and I'd like to paint them to look like ornaments. Problem is that I haven't actually done much with paint other than acrylic. What kind of paint is that that you used? The colors are so vibrant and holds its shape so well. Wishing you continued success in all that you do. And thanks for all the inspiration you give to me.
Tina
Hi Tina!
Thanks for noticing my lights! I used Scribbles Dimensional paint to make them look like the edible icing used on the real sugar skulls. The trick, though, is to let them dry for a couple hours to make sure they aren't sticky. I think they will do a nice job on your tree lights, especially the glittered paints!
Thanks for writing!!
Kathy :-)
