Microscope Slide Necklaces

Hello -
I saw the microscope slide necklaces you made on Crafters and love them.  I have been wanting to make them for a while now and finally got all of my supplies but I am not having any luck. I am placing images between two microscope slides and using copper tape around the edges.  I then have tried a variety of solders and I am not getting a nice smooth beaded edge around the glass. I have tried flux free solder and it has a very jagged feeling to the solder and when I use solder with flux it gets a residue on the edges.  I have tried to clean the residue off with baking soda(read that somewhere) and it makes the solder feel sticky. I know you are so busy but if you get a minute and have any advice I would appreciate it.  Have a Happy Thanksgiving!!!
Cheryl

Hi Cheryl! I'm sorry to hear you are having trouble. Actually for that project, I didn't use solder at all, I just used silver tape to get the look of solder (that's why it looks so smooth). But I did another project with solder and what I did was buy a small jar of flux and then solder wire. I covered the edges with copper tape and then painted on the flux, and then I applied the solder and it worked just right. Hope this helps!! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving too!!
Kathy :-)
