Disclosure: This is a sponsored post with Coca-Cola and Ritz Crackers. All opinions and experiences of making (and eating) these tasty touchdown snacks are all my own. Here is my last and most glorious post for the big game coming up this Sunday! I’m going to show you how to create a sporty tablescape, plus two creative ideas for the ever-popular snack table! It’s all part of the Coca-Cola Home Bowl Hero Contest promotion happening this week. Aside from the ideas I’m offering, there is also a chance for three of you to win a $350 Coca-Cola prize pack!
CONTEST: All you have to do is create a Pinterest board themed around all the things you would want to make to celebrate the big game coming up this Sunday. Once you create your Pinterest board themed around food and crafts you want to make for the big game, title the board “Coca–Cola #HomeBowlHeroContest” – then post the link to your board in the comment section of this post! I’ll choose three to each win a $350 prize pack.
– Pins on the board need to feature “#HomeBowlHeroContest” in the captions
– You don’t need to pin photos of Coca-Cola or Ritz in order to be entered to win!
– 18 years and older, U.S. residents only.
Thank you to those of you who have already entered. Oh my gosh, it is going to be so hard to choose, I’m loving all your Pinterest boards so far!
OK, so here is some inspiration – I call this The Ultimate Tasty Touchdown Snack Station!
The first thing I did was visit my local party store to find football-themed decorations, and they had plenty! I layered three tablecloths so that the entire table would be covered with football motifs – more exciting, right? Next, I bought some doilies to add white space. I also picked up some laminated football decorations to set inside each dish. I also left with a few platters to tie it all together.
I pulled out two fondue pots for the Ritz Crackers – one I melted dark chocolate, and the other side I heated up jack cheese dip.
On the jack cheese side I filled cups with spinach dip, cream cheese and hummus.
On the chocolate side I filled cups with Nutella, chopped nuts and bacon bits. I also added some popcorn and spicy pepperoni.
The idea is to create your own Ritz concoction! Here is one with cream cheese and spicy pepperoni, my fave!
Pretty crazy, huh? Anything goes for football snacks, just indulge and eat your emotions for when the game gets to the nail-biting moments!
If that isn’t enough, how about some Coca-Cola Cake Balls?
My friend, Jeshua, helped me with these. He is a master at making cake pops! He added in Coca-Cola to the cake mix to give the flavor an extra pop of sweetness!
Using one package of cake mix, bake it and cut off the edges and top. Pick it up and place it in a big mixing bowl and crumble with your hands.
Add 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla extract and 1 tablespoon of Coca-Cola directly into the tub of frosting and stir until completely combined and creamy.
Pour the entire tub of frosting onto the crumbled cake and mix together with your hands. The cake should be the consistency of wet sand once completely mixed.
Prepare a baking sheet and cover with wax paper.
For this next part, keep your hands damp and clean in between making each cake ball to ensure that the outside texture of the cake ball is smooth and doesn’t stick to your palms. With a spoon, take a scoop of the cake mixture and roll it in between your palms until you get a ball shape, then gently form the ball into a football shape and place it onto the baking sheet. Once all of your cake mixture has been formed into football shapes, place them in the freezer for an hour to set.
After an hour remove the sheet from the freezer and get ready to cover them in chocolate (my FAVORITE part!!!) Melt your chocolate in a double boiler (if you are using real chocolate) or if using melting candy chips simply microwave in 15 second intervals, stirring in between each interval. To cover your cake ball, just spoon a dollop of chocolate onto your cold cake balls then spread the chocolate all over. Work quickly because the cold from the frozen cake balls will set the chocolate quickly.
To give your cake footballs an authentic look, pipe white frosting or icing down the center to make the laces. I used cookie icing but I found that it didn’t quite stay put on the chocolate so I would recommend piping white frosting or white candy melts to make the laces. Pop the finished cake footballs into the freezer and remove 20 minutes prior to serving.
I hope you are filled with inspiration and excitement for the big game, or even just gatherings with friends and family. Food always brings people together, and especially crazy food concoctions like this makes for fun conversation! If you need more, make sure to visit HomeBowl.com!
Coca-Cola is partnering with Evite to create a custom “Home Bowl” experience on www.homebowl.com allowing party planners and football fans alike to create Evite invitations for their party, access to game day recipes and other party tips, and access MyCokeRewards for product coupons.
