Chocolate dipped cake mix cookies

Chocolate dipped cake mix cookies – um, a big yes. Especially if you have a sweet tooth. 

I made these for Valentine’s Day, but you can adapt them however you desire.

They are a super easy, no-fail, totally delicious recipe. I made these and decided to go over the top and dip them as well. 

I first herd of these from my crafty friend, Cheryl. A baker, I’m not, but I do enjoy crafting with food in the kitchen. Cheryl gave me one of her cake mix cookies and it was so tasty. When she told me the recipe, I just about fell over.

Soooo easy. I knew it was a baking gig. I could handle with ease.

But of course I had to add something else – that’s where the dipping enters.

Ingredients for chocolate dipped cake mix cookies:

1 box of cake mix

1/2 cup of sour cream

1 egg

1 stick of butter

Candy melts for dipping (can be chocolate, white chocolate, add food coloring if desired)

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.

Directions:

Mix it all the ingredients together until it forms cookie batter.

Spoon them on a cookie sheet. They won’t spread while baking, so keep that in mind. If you want them large and round, you have to press them that way, or just drop in clumps like me.

Bake for 10 minutes at 350 degrees.

I never appreciated the function of a cooling grid until Wilton sent me these to use. All I can say is cooling grids rock!

Remove your cookies from the oven and let set for two minutes, then put them on the cooling grid. (If you don’t have one, that’s ok too!)

Pour one of the bags of candy melts in a microwave safe bowl and heat on high in 30-second intervals.

After about the third or fourth time, remove the bowl and stir until creamy.

It should look like this, nice and smooth and creamy!

Dip one cookie at a time into the bowl of candy melts. Place on a cookie sheet lined with freezer or wax paper. Let cool.

And they will look like this! Yum, they are gooey inside! If they are too sweet with the candy melts, just dip one, taste it and decide of you want to do the rest.
